AUSTRALIA’S BIGGEST MENTAL HEALTH MUSIC FESTIVAL TORCH FEST TO KICK OFF THIS MONTH
2022 is looking to be a huge year for mental health music festival Torch Fest as they prepare to embark on an east coast tour across four states.
With a incredible lineup of Australian songwriters, Torch Fest will appear in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane as they aim to shine light on mental health through the power of music.
Torch Fest is an initiative by mental health music charity, Listen Up Music. Following the success of their inaugural show last year in Brisbane, this year will see the festival extend to Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane. Their first show will kick off right here in Melbourne on Saturday March 26 at Max Watts.
Set to be Australia’s biggest mental health music festival, the uniqueness of Torch Fest is a huge standout. Not only will Torch Fest present a fantastic array of songwriters but the messaging behind the event surrounding mental health awareness is even more powerful. Each songwriter on the bill will perform their Torch Song, an original song by the artist that has helped them through any mental health challenges. Festival attendees will also be provided with battery powered torches to help illuminate the spirit of Torch Fest as the festival aims to eradicate stigma surrounding discussions about mental health.
“Mental health doesn't discriminate, and so we felt it only right to shine further light on the topic, now in four states across the country,” says CEO of Listen Up Music, Ali Taylor.
Many notable songwriters will feature at this year’s Torch Fest including many members from the RSOM Community. The Melbourne line up in particular will feature WILSN, Georgia Mae, Jess Locke, Alexander Biggs, Benjamin Trillado, Jade Alice, Seb Szabo, The Mamas, RARIA, Sir Jude, and Velvet Bloom.
We here at The Real Songwriters of Melbourne are excited to announce that we will be partnering with Torch Fest for this year’s event. We will be down at the Melbourne show on Saturday March 26th and Founder of RSOM, Jena Marino will be featuring in this year’s Torch Fest podcast series. The series, proudly sponsored by Audio Technica will feature interviews with various performers, attendees and event members.
A fantastic event with a strong message in which we are proud to be a part of. Be sure to come along to a show near you as we stand to raise awareness for mental health.
