‘RAINSTORM’- THE DEBUT SINGLE BY AMORTENTIA
Debut single, ‘Rainstorm’ by Amortentia has fulfilled all of my nostalgic wishes, by giving me nothing but sweet synth, saturated vocals and one overall dreamy vibe. This is why I love music, because it can so quickly take you out of the current world we live in and allow you to travel in time, and in this case, it really made me travel back to an era I wish I was born in, the 60s.
The Melbourne based 23 year old artist, known as Amortentia, has made his mark in the Aussie music scene by delivering a great first taster into what we can expect to come next. With a history in music, from starting out playing piano and later picking up guitar and bass, Amortentia is now producing songs in his brothers bedroom, and is independently writing and producing all of his original songs.
“The song was inspired by an atmospheric experience in Melbourne’s Mount Dandenongs, and is conceived as a sort of Melbourne winter counterpart to Khruangbin’s “Texas Sun,’” - Amortentia.
I really appreciate the layering and textural elements that have gone into ‘Rainstorm’. As a self-produced recording artist myself, I really commend Amortentia on how he has gone about producing the debut single. The final mix has come out so clean and perfectly leveled, with every instrumental part, including sound effects, tastefully put on display, without drawing too much attention to one over the other. ‘Rainstrom’ would be the ideal song to listen to when you just want to escape, I can defiantly picture this song playing through my headphones on a dreary, rain filled Melbourne day.
Amortentia is expected to release another dreamy, slightly more indie pop single over the next coming months, “with hints of psychedelia”.
