NEW RELEASE: Lamont Releases Debut Single, ‘Way Out.’
The debut single from songwriter Lamont titled ‘Way Out’ boasts lush harmonies, sweet hooks and is a first-seat experience into what it's like to be stuck inside your own thoughts.
She hope listeners experiencing similar emotions will find a sense of comfort in her song. The mixture of lo-fi sounds and neo-soul textures has been around for decades from bands such as Guided by Voices in the 80’s to Mitski today. The genre is gaining more popularity as it re-emerges slowly into the pop scene and is quite a bold move from the young songwriter on her debut release.
This track is a great debut, showcasing some great lyrics, a great hook and vocals throughout that demonstrate a definite amount of potential for this new artist.
Describing music as her second language, Lamont has been writing songs since the age of 10. Today in her 20s, she is ready to show the world what she has to say, describing her lyrical style as, “the unfiltered truth.” ‘Way Out’ does exactly this, trying to find solace in the way she feels to escape the feeling of not being able to be honest with someone.

Instrumentally, the song is quite stripped back as Lamont’s vocals are centre stage. The guitars are prickly along the track sounding like riffs from old Weezer songs particularly in the beginning. Some very groovy basslines that hum along the track with a laid back soul inspired drum beat that keeps the song going. Most importantly are Lamont’s vocals on the track, they are beautifully executed. Showing great range and restraint to mirror the themes of this song, sounding as though she is holding back in the best way possible. Demonstrating the hold this feeling has on her throughout the track.
