Folk and Friends

  • Analogue Academy 23 Cuzens Place Geelong, VIC, 3220 Australia (map)

An intimate evening in showcasing the original works of Kessia Brooke, Dawson Mansell and Daisy Kilbourne.

About this event

Daisy Kilbourne is a Singer-Songwriter born and raised in the small town of Daylesford. She has a big love for the 60’s & 70’s folk music scene being inspired by Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Stevie Nicks and anyone you’d find at Woodstock. Although she wishes she could travel back to that time she hopes she can bring a little bit of that peace and love to you with her acoustic folk sound and vintage Flower Power inspiration.

Dawson Mansell is a folk artist hailing originally from Bacchus Marsh. He seeks to bring his unique blend of Folk, Jazz and Traditional influences together to create intricate, thought-provoking pieces. His inspiration is drawn largely from the beauty of nature, as well fantasy folklore and literature.

Homegrown in the Grampians Kessia Brooke shares snippets of personal narratives in contemporary yet vintage-flecked, nostalgic folk. With satirical honesty reflecting on past-self, ideas, and experiences in a mellow hue, her musical journal accentuates bittersweet hindsight. Inspired by an array of icons and up-and-coming artists; Phoebe Bridgers, Hozier, Bon Iver, Ásgeir, Ruby Gill, Haley Blais - Brooke hopes her catalogue of works capture the sepia-toned introspection she experiences through them.
