Sugar Sweet Sounds presents the first of their ongoing Artist Spotlight Series with two of Naarm/Melbourne’s most talented artists and songwriters Jothi and Maddie Jackway performing and taking part in a special artist discussion and Q&A session. The Artist Spotlight series aims to shine a light on Melbourne’s diverse musical artists, to give a peak behind their creativity, and to enlighten and inspire others in their own creative lives.

JOTHI are a 4 piece soul-pop outfit from Melbourne and Geelong. Combining the sounds of Lianne La Havas, Jeff Buckley and Khruangbin, JOTHI produce tight arrangements and sublime melodies. JOTHI meld feminine power, tight grooves and dreamy soundscapes to make you dance and break your heart.

Maddie Jackway’s early days in music were spent learning guitar, teaching herself piano and composing songs in her bedroom in south- west Victoria. Known for her vocal prowess throughout her adolescence, Jackway is now making a name for herself as a songwriter to watch as she seamlessly intertwines memorable melodies with honest and thought-provoking lyrics showcasing the essence of being human in the 21st century.
