Mantis and the Prayer are a local 4 piece band from Melbourne characterised by sultry vocals and stinging guitars.

They deliver theatrical, supernatural rock that deals with themes of tragedy, triumph, love and loss.

Mark Gardner is a seasoned Multi-instrumentalist - Singing , playing acoustic guitar, harmonica , trumpet, flugelhorn, euphonium and keys . As a Singer / Songwriter ,performer and entertainer he is often nicknamed as “Sergeant Trouser” as he has plays so many instruments and in the past in bands such as “Bricks and Mortar” , “Sergeant Trouser ,“The Broken Sweethearts” and currently his own outfit "Mark Gardner and The Great Divide" gaining much support as well as performing alongside-Steve Lucas, Jack Howard, Neil Murray, Keith Potger (The Seekers),Swannee , Chris Wilson and Alan Barnes gaining much experience.
