About Al Parkinson
A passionate advocate for the music community, Al has over 15 years of experience in the industry, working as a songwriter, artist manager, event curator, educator, and community radio host with organisations including Applejack Music (Liz Stringer, The Teskey Brothers), Music Victoria, Sofar Sounds, and APRA AMCOS’ SongMakers program. In her current role within the Education and Outreach team, Al educates members and the wider industry about APRA AMCOS, all aspects of membership, and how music creators can maximise their rights and royalties. She also delivers professional development through webinars, panels, and industry events, building knowledge and connections across the music community. Outside of music, she loves film photography, dancing, and swimming in the ocean.

APRA AMCOS is a music rights management organisation.
They pay royalties to music creators when their music is played or copied, both locally and overseas.
Over 128,000 songwriters, composers, and music publishers appoint APRA AMCOS to look after certain rights on their behalf. This means organisations don’t have to contact individual music creators to legally use their music. Learn more about how music copyright works.
We license organisations to play or copy music
If you're a business or organisation you can buy a licence from them to play, perform, copy, record or make available our music. They then pay the royalties to our members and overseas affiliated societies.
